Shakti Mohan

Shakti Mohan is an Indian dancer. She is the winner of Zee TV's dance reality show Dance India Dance Season 2 and has been a captain in Dance Plus since 2015. [1][2] She was also a contestant and finalist on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2014. Her first song as a choreographer in Bollywood is Nainowale Ne in the movie Padmaavat. She owns her own dance brand called Nritya Shakti under which she has launched three calenders and has also initiated international dance workshops successfully.

Personal life

Shakti Mohan was born on 12th October, 1985 to Kusum Mohan and Brijmohan Sharma. She has three sisters, Neeti Mohan, Mukti Mohan and Kriti Mohan. Mohan is originally from Delhi but has lived in Mumbai since 2006. She studied at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, a boarding school, and has an MA in Political Science from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She was aspiring to become an IAS officer before her appearance on Dance India Dance (DID). A trained Contemporary artist, she graduated with a diploma in dance from Terence Lewis Dance Foundation Scholarship Trust in 2009. Her first big achievement was winning the season 2 of DID.

In her childhood, Shakti met with an accident and ended up with a serious injury due to which doctors declared that she might not be able to walk again. But with the support of her family, she overcame her injury.

Dance career

Following her victory in the second season of Dance India Dance, Shakti produced dance-themed calendars for 2012 and 2013.[3] In 2012 she collaborated with composer Mohammed Fairouz on a BBC-sponsored dance project in New York.[4] She also produced a dance music video together with her sisters. In 2013 Mohan launched a YouTube channel with dance instruction videos. Parineeti Chopra who came as a guest on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa confessed that she was a fan of Shakti Mohan.[5]
