The Italian Serie A is the name of the highest level handball league of Italy.

Competition Format

The 28 teams are separated in three groups of nine or ten teams each. At the end of the first round, the top four teams of each group qualifies to a play-off round while the five other teams of each group plays a play-out round. The first team of each play-off group qualifies for semi-finals while the second team of each play-off group play a elimination round to be the fourth team to reach semifinals. In the play-out round, the last team of each group is relegated.
