Seren Serengil (born 6 April 1971) is a Turkish singer and actress. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and has acted in films and TV series. Her father Öztürk Serengil was an actor, theatre performer and showman.

Career

Seren Serengil made her debut in a movie called Sarhos (1977) as a child actress along with her father Öztürk Serengil. In the early 90s Başka Olur Ağaların Düğünü TV series along with actor Mehmet Aslantug was a big hit which, followed by her movie Alev Gibi Bir Kız along with Hakan Ural. At the age of 16 Seren became assolist (female headliner singer) with the help of İbrahim Tatlıses and later performed at high class music places such as "İzmir Fuarı","Stardust Gazinosu", and Fahrettin Aslan's "Caddebostan Maksim Gazinosu". Being assolist at the age of 16 gave Seren Serengil a media nickname of Turkey's youngest assolsit. Seren debut album "Ayrıldık" was released in 1991 and "Bana Hersey Seni Hatirlatiyor" song from this album became a very huge success. Since then she has released three other notable albums and one single. Her most popular album was "Bu Gecenin Hatirina" which sold 170,000 copies with one video clip only and increased her popularity greatly. Serengil plays classical piano and she has written and composed some of her songs by herself including "Dost Bile Kalamadık", "Gitme","Insan Severse Ozler", "Sen Sansiny Kaybetin" and "Sesiz Telefon". During her music career she worked with famous names such as İbrahim Tatlıses, Emrah, Selami Sahin, Soner Sarikabadayi and Serdar Ortaç.

Serengil has made hundreds of TV appearances in Turkey as a singer and talk show host. Seren started talk show hosting in 1999 and for two years had a program in TGRT. Later she started Yeniden Başlayalım program which aired on StarMax. In 2007, she appeared on Show TV's "UçanKuş" show as a host along with Erol Köse and Bekir Hazar. In 2011, she had a morning tv program called Seren Serengil İle Evlenir Misin? which aired on Show TV. In 2014, she appeared on Cine5's "Kim Ne Derse Desin" program as one of the one of the main hosts for two seasons. Seren Serengil currently is the host of Star Tv's Duymayan Kalmasın program.

In 1993 Seren appeared in music videos for the Emrah Ipek songs "Haydi Şimdi Gel" and "Töre". Seren and Emrah also acted in Yasak Sokaklar film and Belalım Benim TV series together. These clips and tv projects were hugely successful for both Seren and Emrah.

Personal life

In 2017, Gülben Ergen sued Seren Serengil due to the comments she had made about Ergen's private life on Star TV's program Duymayan Kalmasın and in October 2017 a court in Istanbul ruled that Serengil "could not come closer than 30 meters to Ergen, could not insult her or commit any violence against her" for six months. The court eventually sentenced Serengil to a three-day imprisonment in January 2018.[1]
