SelaQui International School is a coeducational, residential school, located at the village of SelaQui in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. It is about 20 km from Dehradun on national highway 72 connecting Dehradun with Paonta Sahib and Chandigarh. The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and is open to boys and girls from class V onward irrespective of religion, caste and ethnicity. All students live on campus and students are attached to four of the boarding houses named after elements of earth supervised by Housemasters and matrons. The School is a member of Global Connections, IAYP, AFS, Fortune 50 schools and British and has an exchange programme with schools of more than ten countries. The annual fee for International students is around 10,000 USD and for Indian students is about 600,000 INR. The School is managed by Gurukul trust that appoints a Board of Governors headed by Chairman to oversee the school functioning. The present Chairman is Om Pathak, an ex-Indian administrative Service officer.

History

Founded in October 2000 as the first IB School in north India, (previously SelaQui World School), now known as SelaQui International School. The School started off as an IB school but switched to national curriculum (CBSE) in 2013.The School is managed by Gurukul Trust, a non-profit charitable organization based in Delhi.

Infrastructure

The campus is located next to the Suvarna river. It is a fully residential School, with around 350 students.

Admissions

SelaQui has its own entrance examination followed by an interview with the Headmaster,scheduled by the Admissions Office in the School Campus. Admission to the School is based exclusively on academic merit, as tested during the entrance examination.

Scholarships

The school offers limited scholarships and bursaries to deserving students on need cum merit basis. There is an intense competition among students for these limited scholarships and academics and co-curricular achievements are the general yardstick applied while considering the cases. The parents have to make an official request to the Headmaster at the beginning of the term. However, the request is not a guarantee for the scholarship.

Sports Programme

Students at SelaQui specialize in in at least two sports before they graduate. Sports offered at the school include athletics, cricket, football, basketball, swimming, rifle shooting, table-tennis, golf and lawn tennis.

The Arjuna program promotes tennis, football and cricket at the school. There is also a golf academy, an equestrian club, and a rifle shooting range.

Societies and Clubs

Students may join various societies at the school, devoted to activities and subjects such as astronomy, mountaineering, boardgames, Shakespeare, Western music, Indian dance, photography, film appreciation, Indian classical music, debating, science, and art.

The SeQuin is the weekly newspaper of the school, which is edited by students.

Every pupil at SelaQui International School lives in a boarding house, chosen or allocated when applying to SelaQui. It is here that he studies eats and sleeps. There are four main houses - Agni, Akash, Prithvi and Jal (Grades IX - XII), one Holding House (Grades V -VIII) and the Girls House, accommodating all the girls (Grades V - XII). Each House is presided over by a House Master / House Mother, a Matron, an Assistant House Master and a group of tutors working round the clock. There are regular competitions among the houses, which compete on the sports field and in other disciplines such as dance, music, debating, quizzing, dramatics, etc. The House Master is assisted by a Senior Boy / Senior Girl, known as the House Captain and House Vice Captain. One Senior Boy serves as the School Captain and one Senior Girl serves as the Head Girl. They are assisted by Prefects from each House.

Alumni

The School alumni are referred to as SeQuin and notable among them are Gaurav Pandey (actor) and Saurabh Pandey (actor)
