Sehnsucht (German for "longing") is the second studio album by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released on 25 August 1997[1] through Motor Music in Europe and Slash Records in the US. It is the only album entirely in German to be certified platinum by the RIAA in the United States.

Cover art

The album booklet folds out to reveal six different covers, one for each band member (each photo depicting the member with bizarre facial-wear made out of ordinary kitchen objects like spatulas, spoons, forks etc.). The cover most commonly seen shows Till Lindemann with an egg-lifter worn as a muzzle and bent forks over his eyes worn as sunglasses. The cover art was created by Austrian artist Gottfried Helnwein,[2] who also created the cover for the Scorpions' Blackout album, which resembles the Sehnsucht cover.

  1. ↑ The spoken form of the title is a play on words that can mean both “you have” (the translation of the written form) and “you hate”; the English version uses "you hate" in the lyrics.
