Sebastian Korda (/ˈkɔːrdə/ KORD; born 5 July 2000) is an American junior tennis player. He is the reigning Australian Open junior champion and the current World No. 2 in the ITF junior rankings.

Korda has a career high ATP singles ranking of 544 achieved on 20 August 2018.

Early life and background

Korda grew up playing competitive junior ice hockey from the age of 3, but decided to switch to tennis at the age of 9 after accompanying his father to the 2009 US Open.[1] He is the son of former Czech tennis players Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtová, with his father being a former Australian Open champion and French Open finalist in both singles and doubles. He has two older sisters Jessica and Nelly who are both professional golfers.

Professional career

Korda made his ATP main draw debut at the 2018 New York Open. As a wild card entry, he lost in the first round to fellow up-and-coming American Frances Tiafoe in three sets.
