Sean Ingle

Sean Ingle (born in Luton, UK) is a British sports journalist. He has been a Sports Editor at guardian.co.uk since 2000, specialising in football. He is a regular contributor to the Guardian Football Weekly podcast. His own accounts of his time spent playing Sunday League football (as a goalkeeper) have led to his fellow Football Weekly presenters regularly joking that he has "played football at a reasonably high level".

Chris Froome Story

In December 2017, Ingle broke the story alongside colleague Martha Kelner that four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome failed a doping test during his victory at the Vuelta a Espana road race earlier in September. The story said Froome had double the permitted levels of the asthma medication salbutamol in his body. Froome and Team Sky denied he broke any anti-doping rules. [1] The story, which came after revelations of a possible doping cover-up at Team Sky and British Cycling involving Bradley Wiggins generated a wave of controversy in Britain. [2]
