Samyang Foods Co., Ltd KRX: 003230 is a South Korean food manufacturer. The company was established on September 15, 1961 in South Korea. Its products are sold around the world.
History
Samyang Food was founded in September 15, 1961 by Jeon Jung Yoon. In 1963, Samyang Food developed the first Korean instant noodle. Before the development of instant noodles, rice and grains were Koreans’ only stock. The society was always short of stock, but the development instant noodles helped solve Korea’s food shortage issue.
In the early 1970s, Korea’s economy grew greatly. The stock market also grew rapidly, so Koreans were freed from starvation and started to work on national dietary improvement. Samyang food developed a forest of 20 km2 in the highlands of Daegwallyeong and formed a grassland, started livestock farming.
In the 1980s, Samyang food started to make other food products such as snacks, dairy products, and sauces. The demand of instant noodles in Korea increased, and the exports to Japan and the United States greatly increased. In 1989, the “Industrial oil issue” occurred. This was a case which that the company used industrial cow oil to fry the noodles was exposed to the public. By the Industrial oil issue, the image of the company was greatly damaged, and Samyang food was relegated to second place of the instant noodle market.
In 2010, the Chairman of the company changed from Jeon Jung Yoon to his son, Jeon In Jang. The company is now placed third to fourth in the instant noodle market of Korea which is a huge drop compared to when the company was founded. However, Samyang Food started exporting their products, which brought a huge profit for the company. Recently, the company took over several restaurant chains and is working on the Food Service industry.

Samyang Ranch[1]
Samyang Ranch is located at Daegwallyeong-myeon area of Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do of Korea. It is about 19.83 km2 which is the largest pasture in eastern area. It raises 800 beef cattle and dairy cows in the open highlands of 850-1,140 m above sea level Healthy cows raised from pasture are used as raw materials for Samyang Foods produces. Also, it has become a tourist attraction and getting a lot of interests for drama, CF shooting location, etc. because of its beautiful site. Samyang ranch is developing various tourism resources such as a gondola, accommodation, and mountain range trekking in preparation for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Ho myeon dang(Premium Noodle House)
It started with its first store in Cheongdam-dong(Korea) with a menu concept oriented from fresh ingredients and naturalism. There is another chain at Kintex (Korea).
Gourmet Ho myeon dang(Gourmet Noodles & Comfort Food)
Gourmet Ho Myeon Dang is a contemporary casual dining restaurant with a unique international perspective by combining various ingredients from the West and East along with healthy recipes. Store is at Hyundai Apgujeong department store (Korea).
Ho myeon&Ban(Oriental Noodle Shop)
Ho Myeon & Ban refers to a place where noodles and rice lovers get together. It has a motto of “naturalism” and is oriented toward healthy ingredients by using olive green. It has a chain at Ban MIA and Busan (Korea).
Lamen;s(We Know Korean Flavor)
Lamen's is a new concept food service brand that gave cooking and health to ramen which is representative fast food. Stores are at Lotte World Mall, and Garosu-gil Road(Korea).
Samyang Sae A-chim[3]
Samyang Sae A-chim has been specialized and produced frozen foods such as dumplings, grilled short rib patties and cutlets for 40 years. Samyang Sae A-chim is currently producing more than 200 items.
It is located in Sejong city, yeonso-myeon of Korea and has a 40,355㎡ (12,300 pyeong) for factory site. Factory is about 135,366㎡ (4,600 pyeong) large, possessing largest domestic production line which is straight type production structure.
Samyang Jeju Milk[4]
Samyang Jeju Milk has founded at 1985 December and located in Mt.Hanlla and raise cows by non-antibiotic, non-chemical fertilizer, non-GMO in 5300000 km2 organic grassland and produces premium milk.
