Samuel George Phear

Samuel George Phear, D.D (b Earl Stonham 30 March 1829 - d Cambridge 26 November 1918) was an academic in the second half of the 19th century.[1]

Phear spent his whole career at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.[2] He was a Fellow there from 1853 to 1871; and its Master[3] from 1871[4] until 1895. [5] He was ordained in 1853,[6] and was Chaplain to the Bishop of Winchester from 1873 to 1881.[7] He was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge from 1874 to[8] 1876.[9]
