The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016) runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right out-of-the-box. It was planned to release Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow , The update is already released for the China and Hong Kong TGY variant. It is pending to be upgraded to Android Nougat.
