Salar is a census town in Bharatpur II CD Block in Kandi subdivision of Murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Demographics

As per the 2011 Census of India, Salar had a total population of 22,894, of which 11,651 (51%) were males and 11,243 (49%) were females. Population below 6 years was 3,095. The total number of literates in Salar was 13,681 (69.10% of the population over 6 years).[1]

Muzaffar Ahmed Mahavidyalaya was established in 1986 at Salar. Affiliated with the University of Kalyani it offers courses in Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Arabic, history, geography, political science, sociology and education.[6]
