Sacai

sacai is a Japanese luxury fashion brand founded by Chitose Abe (née Chitose Sakai) in 1999.[1] Vogue magazine has cited sacai as influential in breaking down the dichotomy between casual and formal clothing.[2]

History

Abe grew up in Gifu prefecture making clothes for dolls. Her mother was a seamstress.[3] Abe worked as a pattern cutter for Comme des Garçons and later worked for Junya Watanabe.[4]

In 2016 sacai worked with Danish jewelry designer Sophie Bille Brahe for a capsule collection of fine jewelry.[5]

In 2017 sacai collaborated with The North Face.[6]
