Rubén Ignacio Moreira Valdez (born April 18, 1963 in Saltillo, Coahuila) is a Mexican politician, lawyer and member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). Moreira will serve as a proportional representation federal deputy to the LXIV Legislature of the Mexican Congress. Moreira served as the Governor of Coahuila from 2011 to 2017, having won the 2011 gubernatorial election.[1] He previously held a seat in the federal Chamber of Deputies of Mexico from 2009 to 2011.
Life
Moreira served in the Chamber of Deputies for the first time in the LXI Legislature, between 2009 and 2011.
Gubernatorial campaign
Rubén Moreira won the 2011 Coahuila gubernatorial election on July 3, 2011, with 62% of the popular vote, holding the state for the PRI.[1] His closest opponent in the election, Guillermo Anaya Llamas of the PAN, received 35% of the vote.[1]
Moreira took office as governor on December 1, 2011.[2]
Return to the Chamber of Deputies
Moreira was returned to the Chamber of Deputies in 2018 for the LXIV Legislature as a PRI party list candidate from the second electoral region.
Personal life
He is married to Alma Carolina Viggiano Austria, a lawyer and elected politician.
