Robert Lewis Everist (born November 1952) is an English businessman. Born in Enfield Town, North London. His business interests include childcare centres, commercial office space, schools, fabrication and plastic manufacturing.

Career

Jointly with his second wife, Susan Mills, Everist owns the Childcare Eastmidlands Group and the Cherubs Day Nurseries Group, along with Plastimet, a fabrication manufacturer based in Derby, Glosscalm Properties, a commercial property company and the Glosscalm Group, a Jersey based holdings company.[1]

Criticism

In 2009, on its centenary year, Everist and Mills closed the Attenborough school, a business which was bought by their childcare company in 2005 for GBP 1.2m.[2] Negative media coverage widely claimed, that Everist's holding company had pressured employees of the subsidiary into handing in notice a week prior to closing the business.[3]

Personal life

Everist and partner Susan Mills own Lound Hall, a £4 million Georgian mansion in Bothamsall, Nottinghamshire. In 2009 the couple started a multi million pound improvement project on their home.

Everist has two children from his first marriage, and three stepchildren. He is also an avid art collector and golfer.[4] In October 2017, Everist's stepson, Charlie Mills joined the cast of Made in Chelsea, a television show on E4 which follows the lives of affluent young people living in West London.[5]

Golf

Everist is a keen golfer,[6] and has a handicap of 7. Everist is a member at Notts Golf Club, Hollinwell.
