Rizwan Arshad is Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress President for second consecutive term.

He started his political career from NSUI as College President, District General Secretary, State General Secretary, National General Secretary. Then continued his career with Indian Youth Congress as State Vice President, National Secretary after that the transformation system of election was bought in the frontal organisations of Congress by Shri. Rahul Gandhi with a vision of opening the doors to common youths & students in the party. He won the election with the halfway margin for the first time as the President of KPYCC and again He won the consecutive time by a very huge margin.

He got ticket to contest for Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore central constituency from INC. However he lost to BJP candidate PC Mohan.

On 10th June 2016, he was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council by getting 34 MLA votes. He got 5 extra votes of JD(S) rebel MLAs led by JD(S) MLA Zameer Ahmed. Required quota to be elected was 29. [1][2][3]
