Richard McCarthy (born 11 October 1987) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a full-back for the Limerick senior hurling team.[1]

McCarthy made his first appearance for the team during the 2011 championship and has become a regular fixture at full back. Since then he has won one National League (Division 2) winners' medal and a Munster Senior Hurling winners medal in 2013. In 2013, McCarthy became the first Limerick player to be selected as an All-Star since 2007.[2]

At club level McCarthy is an All-Ireland medalist in the junior grade with Blackrock. In addition to this he has also won Munster and county junior championship medals.[3]
