Richard A. Bierschbach is Dean and Professor of Law at Wayne State University Law School. He was appointed dean on August 17, 2017.[1]

Career

Bierschbach received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.[2] Afterwards, he was a law clerk for Judge A. Raymond Randolph of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1997-98) and for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor of the Supreme Court of the United States (2000-01).[3] He served as an attorney-advisor for the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel as well as working as a Bristow Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General (1997-98). He also worked for three New York international law firms—Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale), Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.[1][4]

Bierschbach was a law professor at Yeshiva University's Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, where he specialized in alternative sentencing, criminal law, and white-collar crime.[5][6] Bierschbach taught at Cardozo for 12 years beginning in 2003 as a visiting professor and was hired on a permanent basis in 2005.[7] He taught corporate and administrative law to upper-level students, and served as vice dean in 2015-16.[1][2]

Personal life

Bierschbach and his wife, Carina, have two children.[1]
