Reewa Rathod is an Indian singer. Her first public performance came as the opening act for a Bryan Adams concert in 2011 in Pune, where she sang her own song "Crossing Limits."[1][2] In January 2013, she was showcased in her first solo concert.
She's studied Carnatic music from Prasanna Varrior, a senior disciple of Balamani Aiyyar; Hindustani classical music training came from the duo Rajan-Sajan Misra and she’s cleared eight levels of piano from the Royal Associated Board of Music, London.
Early & Personal Life
Born in a family of renowned singers and musicians REEWA is the daughter of acclaimed singers Roop Kumar Rathod & Sunali Rathod. Her grandfather, the Late Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod, was a well known Dhrupad Dhamar vocalist of the Aditya Gharana of Jamnagar. Trained in Hindustani , Carnatic and Western Classical REEWA started learning music at very tender from her first GURU , her father renowned vocalist ROOPKUMAR RATHOD. She learnt Piano under the able tutelage of Ms.Shanti Seldon and has passed all 8 grades of Western classical Piano from Royal Associated Board London. She has learnt Carnatic Classical from the renowned GURU Smt. BalaMani Aiyyar and Smt.Prasanna Warrior She is Currently learning under Padma Bhushan Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra of Benaras Gharana.
Career
1991–1996: Early life and career beginnings
Reewa Rathod (also known as Surshree) was born in Mumbai to singers Roop Kumar Rathod and Sunali Rathod. At the age of four, she sang the Meera bhajan Payoji Maine Ram Ratan Dhan Payo at the Tejpal Hall in Mumbai.[3] Her grandfather, the Late Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod, was a well known Dhrupad Dhamar vocalist of the Aditya Gharana of Jamnagar. Her paternal uncles Shravan Rathod and Vinod Rathod are well-known music composers and singers respectively in the Indian film industry.
1996–2012: Breakthrough and musical beginnings
She performed at the Doon School’s Rose Bowl in 2012 and also at Saptrang 2014. She was conferred with the Sur Jytosna National Music Award in its first year of institution.[4]
2013–present: Film projects and Stars Dance
Reewa also composed and sang a song ‘Tandaana’ for a Spanish production, Traces of Sandalwood, starring Nandita Das which was released in the latter half of 2014.[5]
Reewa is also doing an Indipop Song with well known Indipop producer Ranjit Barot.
Stage Performance
Reewa started singing at a very young age. Her first public performance was at the at age of 4 years at Tejpal Auditorium Mumbai on the occasion of her Grandfather Late Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod's 1st Death Anniversary. She later went to have a dream outing with an opening act performance at Bryan Adams Concert in 2011 in Pune. Her first solo concert in 2013 was attended and praised by the greats of indian music and film industry.
