Rao Raja Surjan Singh was the 14th Rao of Bundi. He was crowned in 1554.[1] He was the governor of Ranthambore under the vassalage of the Sisodias of Mewar, until 1568, when he submitted to Akbar after the fall of Ranthambore in 1568.[2] After his submission, he was granted the title of Rao Raja in 1569 and given 52 districts, including Benares and given a command of 2,000.[3] His son Duda allied with Maharana Pratap, and was defeated by the Mughal Empire after which he fled and Bundi was conferred upon Surjan's son Bhoj.[4][5] He died in 1585.[6]
