Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the city of Rajahmundry in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.[1]
Jurisdiction
The corporation is spread over an area of 44.50 km2 (17.18 sq mi).[2]
Administration
The corporation is administered by an elected body, headed by the Mayor. The corporation population as per the 2011 Census of India was 343,903. The present commissioner of the corporation is Vijay Rama Raju.V and the Mayor is Pantam Rajini Sesha Sai.[3][4] The city has a total of 3017 Street lights under its administration.[5]
history
rajahmundry municipal corporation is one of the oldest corporations which started in the year 1866. which was headed by british till 1884 and when they had given permission for contesting for municipal chairman elections. even nyapati subbarao served under this municipal corporation. first chief minister of andhra pradesh Tanguturi prakasam panthulu also won as chairman in 1903. zamindar of dharmavaram Kanchumarthi ramachandra rao and many others took active participation in it. raja Vogeti Ramakrishnayya garu served as municipal councillor for a long time. nidamarthi durgaiah and many other people acted as chairman for this.
