Plot
Zamindar Jagapathi Rao after the death of his first wife marries Lakshmi Devi (Santha Kumari). His first wife’s son is Ramu (N. T. Rama Rao) and Prasad (Jaggayya) is the son of Lakshmi Devi. Though they are step-brothers lot of love & affection is bonded in between Ramu & Prasad. As Jagapathi Rao passes away Lakshmi Devi keeps the responsibility of running the house and property on Ramu. Ramu wants to work like a farmer and develop agriculture. He wants to make Prasad doctor and help the poor of their village. In the same village lives Bhushayya (Satyanarayana), a moneylender is envious of Jagapathi Rao’s family. But his daughter Radha (Anuradha) loves Prasad. Dharmayya (Ch. Krishna Murthy) is a middle-class farmer. Sarada (Prasanna Rani) and Shanta (Vanisri) are his daughters. Pullayya (Rajanala) is his elder son-in-law a straightforward truthful person. To get rid of him from the way Bhushayya attributes crime on him and makes him arrested. Dharmayya also believes it and does not allow him into the village. Ramu & Shanta fell in love. Bhushayya has a bad eye on Shanta. Meanwhile, Prasad reveals to his brother that he is loving Radha and wants to marry her. Bhushayya keeps a condition to divide the property to approve the proposal. Ramu is ready to do so but Lakshmi Devi does not want to divide the property according to her husband's wish. Sundaramma (Chaya Devi), shrewd sister of Lakshmi Devi poisons Prasad's mind. Prasad goes to Panchayati for judgment where Ramu writes the entire property on Prasad’s name. Bhushayya puts another condition that Ramu’s children too should not claim for the property then he replies he will never ever marry. Shanta also respects his decision. Ramu leaves the house and starts staying along with farmers. Due to the increase of Bhushayya’s atrocities day by day, Ramu & Shanta unite all villagers and start a combined farming. Bhushayya blames Ramu as a thief and makes people believe it. Lakshmi Devi pays the so-called lost money and scolds Ramu. Insulted Ramu leaves the village, on the way he meets Pullayya both of them make a plan to keep an end to Bhushayya's crimes. Parallelly, Dharmayya has taken debt from Bhushayya on return Bhushayya asks him to make Shanta's marriage with him. Bhushayya also cheats Prasad and writes the entire property on his name and brings it to auction. Ramu in various forms of disguise sees the end of Bhushayya, protects Shanta and their family prestige. Prasad requests his brother to take back his word and marry Shanta.
