Raam Mori (Gujarati: રામ મોરી) is a Gujarati language short story writer and columnist from Gujarat, India, primarily known for his short stories depicting the rural life of Saurashtra. Mahotu is his anthology of short stories which received Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Puraskar (2017).

Biography

He was born on 2 February 1993 at Mota Surka, a village in Sihor, Gujarat to Tejalba and Bhavsangbhai Mori. His family is a native of Lakhavad, a village near Palitana. He completed his study in fabrication engineering. He started to write short story at the age of 17 and got published in many Gujarati literary magazine such as Shabdasrishti, Navneet Samarpan, Etad, Tathapi and Shabdasar. In 2016, he published his short story collection Mahotu, which was critically acclaimed by some of the Gujarati writers and critic including Raghuveer Chaudhary and Kirit Doodhat. His short stories are centered around women of rural Saurashtra.[1][2]

He lives in Mumbai.

Career

He worked with TV9 (Gujarati) and then joined Colors Gujarati. Currently, he is working with Vijaygiri Films. His weekly column Mukam Varta is published in Divya Bhaskar. He also writes column Love You Zindagi for Cocktail Zindagi, a Gujarati magazine. He serves as visiting faculty at National Institute of Mass Communication - Journalism (NIMCJ), Ahmedabad.[1]

Recognition

He was invited for All Indian Young Writers Meet in 2016 by Sahitya Akademi, Delhi. In 2017, he received Yuva Puraskar for Gujarati language for his book Mahotu.[3]
