RHAM High School (Regional Hebron, Andover, and Marlborough)[2] is a regional, public high school located in Hebron, Connecticut, United States.

Overview

RHAM's team name, the Sachems, comes from the name of Native American Indian Chiefs of the Algonquin tribe. There is a 1:12 teacher to student ratio.[3]

History

The Region 8 School District was formed and ground broken for the first school building in 1956. Classes started on September 6, 1957. Since then, the school has undergone several renovations:

  • In 1970, an addition was completed which provided a technology education wing, art area, new library, auxiliary gymnasium, and locker room facility.
  • In 1984, a second renovation of the high school facility began and was completed in the fall of 1985.
  • In July 2000 ground was broken for the current high school, which was opened in February 2003. This new school includes many different facilities, including a clay outdoor track field, three multipurpose fields, tennis courts, two baseball fields, and a softball field. The old high school was completely demolished.

In 2006, RHAM added ice hockey as a varsity sport. The hockey team skates out of Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, CT. In 2010, RHAM also added boys' lacrosse as a varsity sport. A girls' lacrosse team was recently added as well.
