Purwakarta Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of West Java, Indonesia. Purwakarta is its capital.
Its area is 969.82 km2 with 760,220 people in 2005, for a density of 783.88 people per km2.[1]

Harmoni Award 2016
Religion Ministry has awarded Harmoni Award 2016 to Purwakarta Regency due to religion tolerancy in this area. It is the only one award from 10 awards across Indonesia, although West Java Province is categorized by Setara Institute is the best of tolerancy in Indonesia. West Java Province itself has got nothing.[2]
