Psyche 59 is a 1964 British drama film directed by Alexander Singer and written by Julian Halevy. It is based on the 1963 novel Psyche 63 by Françoise des Ligneris. The film stars Patricia Neal, Curd Jürgens, Samantha Eggar, Ian Bannen, Beatrix Lehmann and Elspeth March. The film was released on April 29, 1964, by Columbia Pictures.[1][2][3]
Plot
Alison is apparently happy as a wife and the mother of two daughters despite her blindness which was caused by a fall during pregnancy. She is helped by her devoted husband, Eric, a London businessman, an elderly French maid, and Paul a close family friend.
Then Alison's younger sister, Robin, returns. This causes great anxiety, as Alison had caught Paul and Robin together just before her fall. However, although Eric and Paul are aware of this, Alison's memory is psychologically blocked.
Towards the end of the film, the four principals spend a tense holiday in the country, during which Eric analyzes the young seductress, Robin, to Paul, who is after her. At the same time in an uglier scene the two sisters are paired off in the kitchen.
