Project 23000E or Shtorm is a proposal for a supercarrier designed by the Krylov State Research Center for the Russian Navy.[1] The cost of the export version has been put at over US$5.5bn,[3] with development expected to take ten years.[3] The carrier was considered for service with the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet, replacing the 'Admiral Kuznetsov' launched in 1985. Nevskoye Design Bureau is also reported to be taking part in the development project.[4] Though the aircraft carrier and the Lider-class destroyers have been postponed by President Putin, they are mentioned in the military plan for 2020-2025 released in May 2017.[5] According to Russian officials, the new heavy aircraft carrier should be laid down between 2025-2030.[6]
History
In July 2016, a Russian official confirmed that a delegation visiting India in early July had offered the design for India to purchase.[7][3]
