The hospital also has a Coronary Care unit, an Adult Intensive Care unit, a Neonatal intensive care unit and a small Paediatric unit which deals with Medical and Surgical cases in children.

Adjacent to the hospital is Bridgend Clinic, a private facility in conjunction with the main hospital and provides private services similar, as well as additional services in Bariatric surgery, Cosmetic Surgery and Psychology.

The Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to provide testing and technical services to the Welsh NHS on medical devices, is based at Princess of Wales.

Performance

The Healthcare Inspectorate Wales carried out a mental health unit review in 2015 and raised concerns about "insufficient staffing levels to maintain safe levels of care" and "concerns around a specific patient for which there was inadequate recording of fluid intake and a care and treatment plan which did not adequately address the area of diabetes and an absence of any care strategy in relation to this area".[1]
