Prairie Dawn

Prairie Dawn with comedian Margaret Cho.

Prairie Dawn is a fictional character, a Muppet girl on the children's television program Sesame Street. She has appeared on Sesame Street since early in the show's history. Prairie was originally puppeteered and voiced by Fran Brill who also performed the more recently introduced character Zoe.

On seasons 35 through 38 of Sesame Street, she helps Cookie Monster during his Letter of the Day segments, describing the letter of the day and trying to prevent Cookie Monster from eating it, but Cookie Monster finds a way to eat it anyway.

She can also be seen on the TV series Play with Me Sesame, which airs on PBS Kids Sprout. A younger version of Prairie appeared in Sesame Beginnings.

According to the website of Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, who voices Prairie Dawn's mother in Sesame Beginnings, her mother's name is Delta,[1] a reference to the song "Delta Dawn".

Since Season 46, Stephanie D'Abruzzo took over the role of Prairie Dawn, after Fran Brill retired in 2014.
