Pontus Alexander Ludwig Graf[1][2] Brevern-de la Gardie (Russian: Александр Иванович Бреверн де Лагарди, Alexander Ivanovich Brevern de Lagardi; Born Pontus Alexander Ludwig von Brevern; 16 January [O.S. 5] 1814 – 1 April [O.S. 20 March] 1890) was a Baltic German nobleman, military officer and statesman of German, French and Swedish descent, who served in the Imperial Russian Army and the commanded the Kharkov and Moscow Military District form 1865 to 1869 and 1879 to 1888 respectively. He was also the chief of staff of the Petersburg Military District from 1862 to 1865.
