Parno Mittra[1][2] is an Indian actress who appears in Bengali films. She made her debut with Anjan Dutta's Ranjana Ami Aar Ashbona[3] and is known for playing strong characters.[4]

Early life

Parno Mittra was born in Kolkata. Her father worked in Arunachal Pradesh, and she spent a major part of her childhood there. Meanwhile, she studied at Dow Hill School in Kurseong, Darjeeling[5] and Pratt Memorial School[6] in Kolkata.

Career

Parno Mittra's debut TV serial was Khela which was a Ravi Ojha Production. She played the lead character Indira. She acted in another popular Ravi Ojha Production, Mohona[7] as the lead character. She got the Best Actress[8] award for Mohona. She acted opposite Abir Chatterjee in Shomoy and played second lead in Bou Kotha Kau.[9][10]

She made her film debut with Anjan Dutt's Ranjana Ami Aar Ashbo Na. It received three National Awards[11][12] for Best Bengali Film, Special Jury Award and Best Music.

She starred opposite Parambrata Chattopadhyay as Ashima in director Kaushik Ganguly's Apur Panchali,[13] which was screened at the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November 2013.[14]

Some of her other notable films are Bedroom,[15] Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends, Maach Mishti More[16] and Ekla Akash. She played a double role in Glamour.[17]

In 2015, she had three releases: Bheetu,[18] Glamour and Srijit Mukherjee's Rajkahini. (Rajkahini[19] is being made in Hindi as Begum Jaan[20] which is being produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.[21]) She acted in Pratim D Gupta's X Past Is Present, which featured Rajat Kapoor.[22]

Parno Mittra has signed up for Bangladeshi director Mostafa Sarwar Farooki's[23] bilingual international film featuring Irrfan Khan and Rokeya Prachy of Tareque Masud's The Clay Bird.

In 2018 she played main role as Brishti in Alinagarer Golokdhadha opposite Anirban Bhattacharya[24] and directed by Sayantan Ghosal, Parno Mittra's upcoming films are: Arindam Sil’s Indo-Bangla project, 'Balighawr' and Pratim D Gupta's Ahare Mon.[25]
