PagerDuty is a cloud computing company that produces a SaaS incident response platform for IT departments.[2][3] As of 2017, the company has raised over $70 million in venture funding.[4][5] It has been recognized by Forbes on its "Cloud 100" as well as the USA Today list for the top small and mid-sized companies for diversity in 2017.[6][7]

PagerDuty is headquartered in San Francisco with operations in Toronto, Ontario, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Its platform is designed to alert clients to disruptions and outages through machine learning and automation.[8] The software operates as a standalone service or can be integrated into existing IT systems.[2] The company works with more than 10,000 clients including IBM, Lululemon, Airbnb, William Hill Australia and Instacart.[9][10]

History

The company was founded 2009 in Toronto, Ontario, by University of Waterloo graduates Alex Solomon, Andrew Miklas, and Baskar Puvanathasan. The company was incubated at the Y Combinator.[11]

PagerDuty raised a seed funding round of $1.9 million in 2010, followed by a Series A round that raised $10.7 million in January 2013.[12][13]

In July 2016, the former CEO of Keynote Systems, Jennifer Tejada, was named CEO of PagerDuty.[9] Later that year, the company held its first PagerDuty Summit, an industry conference to encourage digital innovation.[14][15] The PagerDuty Summit 2017 was held in San Francisco.[16] In 2016, PagerDuty received a silver Stevie Award for Female Executive of the Year in the Computer Services and Computer Software category.[17] The following year, the company won the gold New Product or Service of the Year award under Software as an IT Service Management Solution[18] and a silver award for Customer Service Department of the Year under Computer Services.[19]

PagerDuty announced a funding round in April 2017 led by Accel. The $43.8 million round included existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Baseline Ventures and Harrison Metal.[20]
