Oriental Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) is an engineering college located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is part of the Oriental Group of Institutes. The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya. Oriental group is ranked amongst the best institutes of Central India with specific focus on skill development and training. OIST Bhopal has consistently produced the best placement statistics in the region and was ranked the best engineering college in Madhya Pradesh. The institute is also famous for high number of start ups it's students have produced over the years.

The Institutes of the Group are located in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur only. The Institutes of Bhopal and Jabalpur Campus are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, (RGPV) Bhopal while the Institutes of Indore Campus are affiliated to Oriental University (OU), Indore.[1]

Oriental Institute of Science and Technology is the most preferred choice of the JEE/PET/AIEEE/MAT/Pre-MCA selected students, seeking admission through counseling conducted by the State Universities and MHRD.[2] OIST, Bhopal has all the eligible programs CSE, IT, EC, EX, AU, ME,CIVIL and MCA accredited by the National Board of Accreditation AICTE, New Delhi.

Admissions

For the undergraduate course, the admission is through the national-level engineering entrance examination: JEE-Mains and MP-PET. The cut-off for admission to engineering courses generally remains high with Electronics and Mechanical being the most sought after branches. For the postgraduate courses, the entry is through GATE for MTech, NIMCET for MCA or through an institute-conducted entrance test.

Training and placement

Oriental Institute of Science and Technology has pioneered in campus placement in Central India by bringing corporates for the students of its first batch in 1998. TCS has accredited Oriental Institute of Science & Technology (OIST) as level "A" College. Major Recruiters include TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Capgemini, Syntel, L&T Infotech, IBM, Avaya, US Technologies, Zensar, Mu Sigma, Amdocs, UST Global, Zycus, Yodlee, Sears Holdings, Persistent Systems, Aon Hewitt, Mphasis, Atos, etc, with Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Mercedes, Honda, etc making selective rounds for placements.

Oriental always has been top placement provider in the region. Oriental group has produced highest CTC offers for past few years now, with the average packages also growing rapidly.

Movies shooting

The shooting of Prakash Jha's movies, Rajneeti and Aarakshan was also done in its campus. 300 students of the institute were part of the movie Aarakshan. The institute is a famous spot for several movies and TV series shooting because of it's infrastructure and beautiful architecture.[3][4]
