Ningbo–Fenghua intercity railway

Ningbo–Fenghua Intercity Railway, is a suburban metro line under construction in Ningbo. It starts from Gaotang Bridge Station in Yinzhou District and ends in Jinhai Road Station in Fenghua. Through train service will be operated on Line 3 and Line S3 and no interchange is needed.^[1] Construction of Line S3 started on December 30, 2015, and the line is scheduled to open in June 2019.^[2]

Route

The railway starts south of Gaotang Bridge station in south Yinzhou District, goes south until it reaches the Ningbo Ring Expressway and turns into an elevated line and enters the Huanzhen North Road of Jiangshan Town. After reaching Jiangshan Station, it turns east into Yanhu Road and passes Yinzhou Industrial Park and Yongjiang Village until it reaches Fangqiao and turns south again along Donghuan Road before it reaches its destination, Jinhai Road Station.^[3] The route is 21 kilometers in length, of which 0.784 kilometers is underground with the rest (21 kilometers) being elevated.^[4][5] The section between Fangqiao to Dacheng stations the elevated structure will run under the elevated south extension of the Ningbo Airport Expressway forming a three level structure similar to the northern section of Shanghai Metro Line 1^[6] with trains running up to 120 km/h.^[7]

It is proposed that in the future, this line will be divided at Fangqiao Station: northern part will be integrated into Line 3 and southern part will be extended northwards until it finally reaches Duanmei Road Station of Line 5. An further extension southwards into Ninghai County^[1] and a branch line west to Xikou Town is also being proposed.^[8]
