Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard (born 1975) is a French-born entrepreneur, also having gabonese citizenship. He is the founder, CEO, and sole owner of APO Group – a leading media relations' consulting firm. Clients include governments, international institutions, high-level personalities, but also companies such as Facebook, Uber, Coca-Cola, DHL, Hilton, Marriott, Accor Hotels, Western Union, Philips, Nestle, PwC, Orange, Greenpeace, Al Jazeera and many more. Partners include Bloomberg, Getty Images, the Web Summit, CNBC Africa, Africanews (subsidiary of Euronews) and more.

Early life

Nicolas grew up in Valence d'Agen (France), and attended the Institut Saint Christophe, a catholic boarding school and, subsequently, studied law at the Université de Lille.

Career

Nicolas successively served as Deputy-Director of the French regional daily newspaper fr:Le Petit Journal, Director of FNSEA farmer's Union in Tarn-et-Garonne (France), parliamentary assistant at the French parliament (Assemblée nationale (France), correspondent in Europe of Gabonese press agency, fr:Gabonews, and Special-Adviser to the President of the Panafrican Press Association in France (APPA), before he created APO Group in October 2007.

Rugby

Born in the South West of France, in the small town of Valence d'Agen (5.000 inhabitants), located between Agen and Toulouse, two of the biggest rugby cities in France, and having three uncle playing rugby, Nicolas played rugby from age 8 to 21, successively in Valence d'Agen, St Christophe (Masseube), Auch, Valence d'Agen again, and finally Tarbes. Playing as hooker, he was preselected to compete during the Armagnac-Bigorre selection in Auch in 1989.

In November 2017, the company he owns, APO Group, became the main Official Sponsor of World Rugby's African association, Rugby Africa[1], [2].

In May 2018, Nicolas unveiled the Rugby Africa Gold Cup perpetual trophy[3] – a Rugby World Cup qualifier – during the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Congress in Brussels[4][5], in the presence of Abdelaziz Bougja, President of Rugby Africa, Gianni Merlo, President of the International Sports Press Association, AIPS [Italian][6], and Mitchell Obi, President of AIPS Africa.

The back of the perpetual Trophy has been engraved with the text "Presented by Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, Founder of APO Group". It's estimated there is enough space for seventy (70) more winning teams' names to be engraved on the base of the perpetual trophy and that it will be used until – at least – the year 2080.

Personnal life

Pompigne-Mognard was born and raised in Valence d'Agen, France. He is married with three children and lives in Lausanne, Switzerland.
