Nathaniel W. Dean

Nathaniel W. Dean was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography

Dean was born on September 17, 1817. He settled in what would be Madison, Wisconsin in 1842. By trade, he was a dry goods merchant, real estate speculator and a farmer. Additionally, he was a regent of what is now the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dean died on February 28, 1880 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery.

His former home, now known as the Nathaniel W. Dean House, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a museum.[1]

Assembly career

Dean was a member of the Assembly during the 1857 session.[2] He was a Republican.
