Naile Sultan (Ottoman Turkish: نائلہ سلطان; 30 September 1856 18 January 1882) was an Ottoman princess, the daughter of Sultan Abdülmecid I and his wife Şayeste Hanım.

Life

Naile Sultan was born in the same year as her sister, Mediha Sultan. In her birth certificate it stated that she was born on Tuesday. She was five years old when her father Sultan Abdülmecid I died. There is no information regarding her childhood and youth, which coincided with the reign of her uncle Sultan Abdülaziz. As she died of tuberculosis at the age of 26, it seems likely that she had battled against this illness all through her youth, like her older sister, Behice Sultan. When her brother Sultan Abdul Hamid II succeeded the throne, he granted permission for the marriages of Behice Sultan to Hamid Bey and Naile Sultan to Imperial Aid Circassian Mehmed Pasha, who was a relative of her mother and their weddings was held on October 6, 1876 in the Dolmabahçe Palace.

Death

Naile Sultan died childless after six years of marriage on 18 January 1882 and was buried in the Mausoleum of the imperial ladies at the Yeni Mosque, Istanbul. After her death Mehmed Paşa married Esma Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Abdülaziz and his wife Neşerek Kadın.
