Mukund Nayak (born 1949), hailing from Simdega, Jharkhand, is a folk singer, songwriter, drummer, dancer and political activist. Nayak is an exponent of Nagpuri folk song and dance Jhumar. He is recipient of Padma shree in 2017, one of India 's hightest civilan award for his contribution to folk music and dance.[2] [3]
Early life
He was born in Bokba village of Simdega district, Jharkhand in 1949. He belongs to traditionally Musician Ghasi Jāti. He studied B.A. at Deogarh Vidyapith. [3] [2] [4]
Life
In 2017, he received Padma shree, one of India 's highest civilian award for his contribution to folk song and dance. [3][5]
