Muhammad Alwali Ibn Yaji (died 1807) was the last sultan of the Sultanate of Kano. His reign coincided with a period of upheavals in Sudanic History that saw a series of religious Jihads waged by the Fula People. In 1807, after a protracted struggle with Fula clans, Muhammad Alwali was ambushed and assassinated at Rano in modern Kano. His death marked the end of the Habe line of Hausa aristocrats in Kano.^[1]

Another version of the story as narrated in the book "Hausawa da Makwabansu" and a book "Sabon Asalin Tarihin Hausawa" ,with the former Published by Northern Nigeria Publishing Company and the latter written by Muhammadu Uba Adamu assures that Muhammadu Alwali was killed by the Fulani Reformers at Burum-Burum. Up till date, his grave lives under a huge Boabab tree near Burum-Burum district head's settlement.^[2]
