Mordon in 2007
Mordon is a village in County Durham, England.[1] It is situated a few miles to the north-east of Newton Aycliffe. The population recorded by the 2011 census was 260.[2]
The name Mordon is from the Old English mōr-dūn, meaning "hill in marshland".[3]
In 1872 the population was 179.[4] It is part of the historical parish of Sedgefield,[4][5] but part of the modern parish of Mordon.[2]
