Monica Lennon MSP is a Scottish Labour Party politician who has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Central Scotland region since the 2016 Scottish Parliament election.[1] and Scottish Labour Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport since 4 October 2018.[2]
In the South Lanarkshire Council election, 2012 she was elected to represent Hamilton North and East.
On the 6th of September she made an emotional speech in which she told the chamber of one of her constituents who committed suicide shortly after Christmas. The constituent pleaded with health services for help eight times in the six days directly before he died, but was either turned away or referred elsewhere. Lennon made an emotive plea for the First Minister to take urgent action to review suicide prevention procedures in NHS Lanarkshire.
