Mohsin Issa (born July 1971)[1] is a British billionaire, businessman and founder of Euro Garages, a chain of petrol filling stations that operate in the United Kingdom and Europe.[2]
Early life
Born in Blackburn in 1971, Issa's father originally came to the UK to work in the textile industry from Gujarat, India.[3][4]
Career
Before founding Euro Garages, Issa and his brother, Zuber, took out a lease on a garage, and saved up the money to buy their first petrol station.[5]
Issa co founded Euro Garages with his brother, Zuber, in 2001, with the acquisition of a single petrol station in Bury, Greater Manchester. The original site cost £150,000.[4]
Issa runs the business day to day while his brother, Zuber, is responsible for strategy and acquisitions.[5] The company grew through a series of acquisitions.[6]
As of 2017, Euro Garages is Europe's largest independent petrol station operators, and had sales of £5 billion.[4][7]
In February 2018, it was announced that Euro Garages would acquired 762 convenience stores in the United States from Kroger.[8]
Personal life
In 2017, the Issa brothers bought a £25 million mansion in Knightsbridge, London, previously owned by Achilleas Kallakis.[7][4] The brothers applied for planning permission to create a three story basement.[4][7]
