Metajna is a village in Croatia, in the municipality of Novalja, with a population of 236.[1] It is located in the Bay of Pag on the island of Pag. Many tourists come to the area in the summer which seems to be so peaceful and beautiful but few know that in 1941 this was one of the most horrible places on Earth. The Slana death camp is about 5 km away was for men and in village Metajna itself were three houses were children and women were held, raped and killed in the most brutal way. The truth of what happened in the place was brought to light after World War II but after the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s there was a continuous attempt to hide and blur the traces of what happened in the place.
