1 ALP MLC Ernest Wright resigned on 16 April 1973. Country candidate Toby MacDiarmid was elected as his replacement on 17 August 1973.
2 Liberal MLC Bernard Riley and ALP MLC Neville Wran resigned on 19 October 1973. Liberal candidate Lloyd Lange and ALP candidate Joe Thompson were elected as their replacements on 6 March 1974.
3 Independent Labor MLC Harry Gardiner died on 8 April 1974. Liberal candidate Walter Scott was elected as his replacement on 15 August 1974.
4 Country MLC Eben Vickery died on 26 August 1974. Country candidate Bob Rowland Smith was elected as his replacement on 26 September 1974.
5 Independent Labor MLC Thomas Gleeson died on 25 November 1975. Country candidate Doug Moppett was elected as his replacement on 3 March 1976.
