Plot

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom, it's Princess Indumati (Anjali Devi) is in love with a brave soldier Pratap (Akkineni Nageswara Rao). But Indumathi's maternal uncle Bhaskar Varma (Mukkamala), a crooked person wants to marry her to capture the kingdom. Meanwhile, the King (Gaadepalli) announces the wedding date of Indumati & Pratap. Sparked Bhaskar plans to kidnap Indumati while she is returning from the temple and keeps her in the old fort. Pratap comes to know regarding this through Indumathi's maid Lavangi (Seeta), he somehow rescues her and both of them cross the kingdom in disguised forms. They reach a forest where Pratap notices a big fruit when he tries to pluck it, which pulls him along with it into the sky when frightened Indumati faints. The mysterious fruit takes Pratap into a cave where a sorceress (C. Lakshmi Kantham) offers him to Goddess Jwala Shakti. After that, she changes into a beautiful woman, makes Pratap alive and forces him to love her but Pratap refuses. Here, Mayalamari makes a plan, she releases Pratap but silently chases him by changing her attire into Indumati. In the beginning, Pratap is confused but he is surprised when she turns into her original form and he runs away. Unfortunately, when real Indumati comes before him he goes to a dichotomous state when he scolds, beats and sends her away. Disturbed Indumati tries to commit suicide. A tribal leader Gandara Ganda (Raja Reddy) saves her and keeps her in his hamlet. Parallelly, Gandara Ganda's lover Kuranji (Surabhi Balasaraswathi) could not bear the presence of Indumati. So, she quarrels with Gandara Ganda regarding this matter and asks him to send her away but he refuses. At that point in time, Pratap comes in contact with her, she takes him to their hamlet where the combat arrises Pratap & Gandara Ganda. Pratap wins over him when Gandara Ganda realizes his mistake and handovers Indumathi to him. In the return journey, they were caught by Bhaskar’s men and take them to the fort. By the time, Bhaskar has captivated King & Queen (Annapurna) and conquered the kingdom. He orders death sentence to Pratap and forcibly makes marriage arrangements with Indumathi. Now Gandara Ganda & Kuranji comes to their protection. At last, Pratap eliminates Bhaskar. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Pratap & Indumathi.
