Mark Ormrod (historian)

William Mark Ormrod[1] (known professionally as Mark Ormrod) is an English historian of the English later Middle Ages. He studied in London and Oxford,[2] latterly at Worcester College, where he was awarded his D.Phil in the administration of Edward III.[3] He joined the University of York in 1990[4] and eventually became Professor of history and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.[5] He holds numerous professional affiliations and memberships, being a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a Councillor of the Pipe Roll Society, a Trustee of the Richard III and Yorkist History Trust, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.[5] He has also been an editor of the Yorkshire Archaeological Press, the York Medieval Press,[5] and the Parliament Rolls of Medieval England (PROME) project.[6] One of his most recent publications, his contribution to the Yale English Monarchs series on Edward III has been described as 'a first rate example of historical investigation.'[7]
