Marcus Lloyd Butler (born 18 December 1991) is an English YouTube vlogger, model and author from Brighton, known for his eponymous comedy channel "Marcus Butler" (formerly "Marcus Butler TV"). His second channel, Just Marcus, has daily content varying from vlogs, reaction videos to product testing videos. His third channel, which he no longer uploads on, is MarcusButlerGames. In July 2015, Butler released his first and only book, called Hello Life!. Butler has also done a radio show alongside fellow YouTuber Alfie Deyes on Radio 1.

Career

Butler started on YouTube creating music and video mixes and edited sports footage while in college.[1][2]

In 2010, he created his YouTube channel, Marcus Butler TV, at viewer request.[1][2] Butler has been involved in a number of collaborations with other YouTubers, including: Jim Chapman, Alfie Deyes, Caspar Lee, Tyler Oakley, Joe Sugg, Zoe Sugg, Connor Franta, Lilly Singh, Troye Sivan, Joey Graceffa, Louise Pentland, Conor Maynard and many others.[3][4]

Butler's book, Hello Life, which is part autobiography and part self-help book, was published on 28 July 2015 in the UK and in the US on 10 November 2015.

As of December 2015, Butler's main YouTube channel has over 4.6 million subscribers (4,629,822 as of 25 February 2017) and over 379 million video views, and is the 336th most subscribed channel on YouTube; his second channel "Just Marcus" has over 2 million subscribers (2,022,063 as of 25 February 2017) and over 260 million video views.[1][2][5][6][7]

Butler was mentioned by The Telegraph as one of "Britain's most influential Tweeters" in 2013.[8] As of January 2017, Butler has over 3 million followers on Twitter and over 3.6 million on Instagram.[1][5]

Television

Alongside fellow YouTubers Joe Sugg and Alfie Deyes, Butler starred in an episode of the British television show Release the Hounds. Their episode aired on 2 March 2017.[9] He also starred in many episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway alongside Deyes.[10] Also in 2016, Butler was a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef, but got eliminated in the quarter finals. In 2017, Butler was on Good Morning Britain alongside fellow YouTuber Louise Pentland, giving tips on how to become a successful YouTuber.

Butler also co-presented CharliSJHDeeleyNat TV from August 2016 until November 2017, alongside Alfie Deyes, Matt Viney & Natalie Brown. Butler left in November 2017, to focus more on vlogging and was replaced by Alison Goldfrapp

As of November 2017, Butler has 3.6 million followers on Instagram.[11]

Music

Butler was part of a "YouTube Boyband", a group involving Jim Chapman, Alfie Deyes, Joe Sugg, and Caspar Lee that raised money and awareness for Comic Relief.[12][13][14] On 22 January 2016, Butler released a song with Conor Maynard called "I'm Famous". It entered the UK Singles Chart on 29 January 2016 at number 34.[15]
