Mantostaan (English: Manto's World)[1] is a 2017 Bollywood film directed by Rahat Kazmi.[2] The film is based on the four controversial short stories of the legendary Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto.[3]

Synopsis

The movie is based on the four controversial stories of the legendary Urdu Writer Saadat Hasan Manto.[8][9] Mantostaan sheds light on the inhumane side of mankind. Set during the Indo-Pakistan partition in 1947, the movie highlights the retributive genocide between the religions, killing as many as 2,000,000 people and displacing over 14 million people.[10]

Production

This film has been mostly shot in Punchh, Jammu & Mumbai, Maharashtra (India).[11]

This film has released in India on 5 May 2017 to positive reviews.[12]
