Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is an upcoming Indian historical biographical film based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. It is being directed by National Award winning director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain & Nishant Pitti. Kangana Ranaut plays the titular role of Rani Laxmibai. Principal photography on the film began in May 2017.[2] The film is scheduled to be released during 25 January 2019.[1][3]
Plot
The film is based on the life of Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi and her war against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Production
Sriram Kannnan Iyengar and Sujeet Subhash Sawant are the production designers for the film. Principal photography completed in October 2018.[8]
Marketing and release
The first poster was released on 15 August 2018 in which Kangana Ranaut looked as Rani Lakshmi Bai which show her and her son tied to her back.[9]
A short official teaser of the film was released on 2 October 2018.[10]
