History

In 1961-62, the Geological Survey of India located a limestone deposit in the Pandarethu valley of the Walayar region on the northern side of the Palakkad gap. Located in dense forest area, the hilly terrain was required heavy investment to mine. The State Govt. ventured to put up a Cement factory in the region. In 1975 feasibility Study for a cement plant at Walayar was done. In 1976 industrial License for the manufacture of Cement was obtained.
