Majestic Princess is a ship sailing for Princess Cruises. She is a Royal-class vessel, and is a sister ship to Regal Princess, Royal Princess and the upcoming Sky Princess[3]. Her keel was laid on 10 July 2015[4] and her name was announced 9 October 2015. It was also announced that she will conjointly carry the Chinese name, 盛世公主号 (Shèngshì Gōngzhǔ Hào, literally Golden age princess), An interpretation selected by Carnival PLC's China employees, which means "Grand World" or "Grand Spirit" princess.[5]

Her design includes "Movies Under the Stars" (the largest outdoor screen at sea), a multi-level piazza style atrium, glass-floor walkway which extends 8 meters beyond the edge of the ship and cuisine from Italy, France, North and South America, Southeast Asia, Japan and China.[6]

Construction

Majestic Princess was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Her construction, according to an agreement between Princess and Fincantieri at €600 million.[7]

She was launched on 8 February 2016.[8] The ship was delivered to Princess Cruises on 30 March 2017.[9]

Maiden voyage

Majestic Princess sailed on her maiden voyage to Civitavecchia, Italy on 31 March 2017 from Trieste, Italy to Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy. The ship's godmother is the mother of the ship's captain Dino Sagani, Graziella Sagani.[10]

Destinations

Majestic Princess will spend July 2018 operating sailings in Taiwan. The ship will be based in Keelung and will offer 20 various cruises.[11]

On September 15th 2018, Majestic Princess completed her repositioning cruise from Shanghai, China to Sydney, Australia where she will replace Diamond Princess but will sail alongside Golden Princess, Sun Princess, Sea Princess to complete the Australian & New Zealand summer cruise season.[12]

After her 2018 Australian & New Zealand season, around late March 2019, she will undergo a 19-day repositioning cruise from Sydney to Hong Kong where she will continue her Asian season around Taiwan and Hong Kong in mid-2019.[13] She commences her Australian repositioning cruise in mid-September where her 2019-2020 Australian & New Zealand summer season continues.[14]
